PE and Sport 2016

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the new school year! I am very much looking forward to teaching PE and Sport at St Mary’s this year.

We have planned to offer students the opportunity to experience a number of physical activities this year developing knowledge, skills and understanding and also increasing physical activity levels.  These activities include; Soccer, Athletics, Fitness and Fundamental skills, Oz Tag, Dance, Swimming, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Cricket, Rounders and Sports leadership (Year 3 -6).

There will also be a focus on Health and Fitness throughout the school year where students can take part in a number of PE Challenges, in addition to the curriculum.  Parents and families are also invited to join in!  Term 1’s Challenges will be announced shortly.

I will be working with the Sports Captains to organise events and activities and I will be delivering lunch time sports activities, enabling students to increase their physical activity levels during the week.

I look forward to seeing the students next week for their first PE lesson of the year.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Friends,

This is our last message for 2015 so I sincerely thank you for your support and generosity in everything that you do to make the community of St Mary’s so unique and special. This year has seen us celebrate together as a faith community in many eventful ways forming partnerships and recognizing the variety of talents we share.

I congratulate members of our staff who have worked together as a cohesive and dynamic team always dedicated to the vision of creating an excellent school where children love to learn. To our teachers who leave us this year may I wish you success and happiness in your new roles for 2016 and thank you for celebrating the journey within the faith community of St Mary’s.

A special thanks is also given to our Parish Priest Fr. Andy Bullen and the other Jesuit Priests of Our Lady of the Way Parish who very generously support our school community with their guidance and spiritual formation.

May the peace and joy of the Christmas season be with you and your families and may you enjoy a relaxing and safe summer holiday.

May God bless you all.

Building Update

During the school holidays the following building works will take place
  • Student toilets will be completely renovated with new toilet bowls, sinks, partitions, flooring and wall tiling
  • New flooring and some structural works will take place in the staff kitchen, bathroom and meeting areas.

At this stage we are still waiting to receive the go ahead on the Development Application from North Sydney Council to commence Stage 2 of the building works. It is unlikely that this will take place before Christmas so the students will return to their usual classrooms for the commencement of the new school year.
